The crowd leveled up for day four of Crankworx Cairns and the Pump Track Challenge. With no shortage of Aussie starters in the gate, the locals turned up the volume and committed to an epic battle on the pump track. Here’s what went down….
By Mike Branch
The sun beat down hard on the red dirt of the newly built pump track for Crankworx Cairns, with sweltering heat pushing the riders to the limits. The fastest pump track racers from around the globe battled it out on the dirt to see who would be crowned pump track champion at Crankworx Cairns. Ultimately it would be an all Aussie affair…
In the men’s field it would be a new champion that would rise from the home country of the event, a local Queensland racer Jayce Cunning. Jayce turned up the heat on Bas Van Steenbergen in the final to take the win and hold the title on home turf.
In the Women’s field it was Aussie Caroline Buchanan that took the win, proving time and time again why she is such an accomplished rider and one to beat on home soil. Jordy Scott finished in second ahead of super fast young World cup racer Jenna Hastings.
