As the sun went down over the iconic Kuranda Downhill track today new champions rose from the jungle for the inaugural Cairns Crankworx Downhill. It was a day of dust, a day of rain and a day of Australian victory – at the end of the day two stood tall above the rest….
- Troy Brosnan 3:26.840
- Connor Fearon 3:29.351
- Mick Hannah 3:29.655
- Tracey Hannah 4:02.816
- Sian A’Hern 4:02.962
- Louise Ferguson 4:07.183
It was a day of racing that saw a multitude of conditions come down on track with some early rain causing some issues in the junior finals before clear skies taking charge of the situation. A course hold due to an injury in the Juniors also meant a change in the timetable and as the last riders headed down the hill, light was a precious commodity in the rain forest.
Troy Brosnan was the fastest man down the mountain with Connor Fearon coming in second place in his all too Australian Vegemite bike and riding kit. The Women’s race saw home town hero Tracey Hannah continue to prove she still has what it takes to throw down and win in the Pro Women’s category.
It was another epic day of racing on the hill and another spectacular day at Crankworx, paradise edition. Tomorrow sees us head back on course for the Pump Track at 11am followed by the Slope Style at 3:30pm local time.
