Hometown Heroes Ready for Crankworx Aussie Debut

Reef Unlimited Kidsworx was announced as part of the schedule for mountain biking’s
biggest festival Crankworx, which debuts next week from 5-9 October in Cairns. Amongst the impressive list of international athletes competing, is Cairns Local Tracey Hannah, a hot favourite for the Crankworx Cairns Women’s Downhill and Joel Sutherland.

Reef Unlimited Kidsworx gives the Groms a chance to get out and ride alongside all their mountain biking idols. The zone is designed for children 12 and under (and their families) to get amongst the bikes their own size and offers demo bikes, daily activities, as well as coaching opportunities to help youngsters get in on the action like local legends Tracy Hannah and Joel Sutherland.

I feel like my chances are high because it’s my home track”. Since arriving back in Cairns, Tracey has been spending lots of time on the bike sharpening her skills and said “I hope I can get a good result in front of a home crowd, friends, and family. The goal is to be up on the top step.


Joel Sutherland, whom Tracey Hannah describes as “the fastest man in Cairns” is lining up in the Downhill and Specialized Dual Slalom Cairns and said “I obviously can’t wait to compete on the global scale, but I’m more excited about what this event is going to do for Mountain Biking in Cairns and more broadly, Australia. The Legacy of having an event at the scale of Crankworx Cairns is exciting.”
