SEQ Gravity Enduro Series Byron Bay | Results & Photos

The second round of the SEQ GE series headed South of the border on the weekend to the green rainforest of Byron Bay. The six stage course proved challenging with some good technical tracks and some proper full face action. The weather unfortunately took it’s toll on the event, forcing racing to cease due to dangerous track conditions. Here’s the race results and photos….

It was the second round of the series but the first time we have seen racing head to Byron Bay for the Queensland series. Just over 135 riders made the pilgrimage to tackle the technical trail system and the feedback was good, with many riders thoroughly enjoying the small but technical trail network.

Set amongst the lush rain forest of Byron Bay, the course consisted of approximately 9.7km of trails spread over 6 stages. The green foliage gave way to rock gardens and technical features with some higher speed open trail and wooden features to keep things interesting. It was a trail system that was unique and welcomed with open arms by the riders.

There were some light showers in the morning before a bit of heavy rainfall just over two hours into the race that left conditions extremely slick and challenging. Attempts to keep the race running were made but unfortunately the slick rock gardens and trail conditions proved hazardous. As a result the course was inspected and the race called at this point.

The race results were collated in the difficult situation and White Lightning made the tough decision to take the riders that had completed every stage as in contention and the results added up in this fashion – as a result there is a large amount of DNF racers.

White lightning have advised us that the DNF placings will be ordered in stages complete and receive series points, the series will also allow racers to drop their worst round in their quest for the overall titles.
