It was a belated start to the year for the SEQ Gravity Enduro Series in Toowoomba on the weekend but a welcome start for many. Rain and flooding had staved off the start to the series and the clear blue skies and beaming sun were a welcome addition to the weekend. 150 odd riders strapped on a race plate and battled it out for the win in perfect conditions, here’s the race report…..

With weeks of wet weather we were not sure if the race at Toowoomba would go ahead with the trail network like many in South East Queensland suffering from the weather and trail damage as a result. The team at Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club managed to make sure the trails were good to go and the conditions were near perfect for riding bikes down the hill.

A crisp and cold morning greeted riders as the sun slowly poked it’s head over the horizon and blue skies beamed down on Jubilee Park, the scene was set for another great day of racing bikes.

A six stage course ensured even the fittest riders were digging deep by the end of the day and over 1000m of climbing and 21km of riding meant that cramps were not far away for many riders. Despite the lower race numbers for the event there were no shortage of smiles on the faces of many racers and it’s always great to see racing in Toowoomba.
