“ZAZ” | Fletcher Media presents Zarah Mitchell

She’s an inspiration to a new generation of mountain biking women across the nation and a young lady that knows how to shred. Hailing from the Adelaide hills in South Australia it’s no surprise she favours flat pedals and shralping turns, Zarah Mitchell is an up and coming young rider that is starting to make a splash on the racing scene. Fletcher Media’s latest creation ‘Zaz’ is a testament to the young rider’s skill….

Hailing from Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, Zarah Mitchell has only been riding mountain bikes for three years. Despite the short time on the bike her progression has been swift and a gravity focus is ever apparent. She’s already made waves on the race scene and has a handful of big name sponsors such as Ride Collective, Pivot Cycles Australia, Maxxis Australia, Ride Concepts, TLD, Lusty Industries and more. We took a deeper look into what inspires her to ride bikes….

I want to spend the rest of this year focusing on what I can to do improve my riding and how I can be the best version of myself on and off the bike.”

Zarah Mitchell

Q. What Inspires you to ride bikes?

“One of the main things that inspires me to ride bikes is the amount of fun I can have while improving myself. No matter what, there’s always something to progress at and work on in my riding and I love it. I love the process of improvement and the options are endless when it comes to mountain biking. I feel as if riding bikes is a place I can go to just focus on myself and my bike. A place where you can focus on the present and enjoy what you are doing and the people you are with.”

Q. How was the experience creating an edit where you were the sole focus rider?

“Being the main focus of an edit is definitely something great to experience. It was great working one on one with Jack and I could really just focus on my riding. I hadn’t realized how much edits revolve around making sure the rider feels comfortable with what there doing and not just to look good or fast. It was also great seeing the process of the edit being made. From pushing up and riding a section multiple time being turned into such sick and rad edit, it really Is amazing what photographers/videographers are capable of.”

Q. How inclusive do you find the Mountain biking world for women getting into the sport?

“I find the mountain biking community is very inclusive and encouraging towards women getting into the sport. Majority of people in the mountain bike community are super kind and encouraging towards others and especially people just starting. I think a lot of it is just getting out of your comfort zone and just getting started as it can be a bit intimidating in a male dominated sport.”

Q. What does the rest of year hold for you?

“The racing season for me is just about to begin. I plan on racing all the Inside Line Downhill races and attend all gravity enduro events. I want to spend the rest of this year focusing on what I can to do improve my riding and how I can be the best version of myself on and off the bike.”

She’s only 15 years of age but her future is bright, her insight is as honed as her riding and there’s little doubt we will be seeing more of young ‘Zaz’ on the national stage over the coming years. She’s a shining star from a scene that has brought us the likes of Troy Brosnan and Connor Fearon; there’s little doubt another rider is on the rise. So sit back and enjoy the latest edit by Fletcher Media “Zaz”……
