Black Snake DH Trail

Kooralbyn is a venue that is steeped in the history of racing in Australia, a venue that was used for national XC training camps back in the 90s before a hibernation period. In the last 4 years the Kooralbyn Valley Mountain Bike Club has re-invigorated the venue and the trails, building a trail network that boasts mainly cross country and all mountain style trails.

The terrain is loose and dusty, with no shortage of rocks, grass trees and warm weather to keep the riders on their toes. The Downhill track is a trail that was raced in the early 2000s by riders such as Nathan Rennie, Chris Kovarik and Michael Ronning. The trail was brought back to life with a few changes and now exists as The Black Snake Downhill track, featuring on the DH and Enduro race schedules over the last few years.

The trail itself is loose and rocky with some flatter sections, some steeps including a gnarly off-camber chute and a narrow single track section towards the bottom before finishing over a pumpy double and table top. It’s rated black diamond and can be ridden on an Enduro or DH bike, the jury is out on which bike is faster on this track.
