One could say Vali Höll & Reece Wilson have much in common – they are both former Downhill MTB World Champions, they end most of their races north of the top 10 mark, they both ride Trek bikes… and from today on, they will both be known as the riders who earned their first ever elite world cup wins in Snowshoe, USA. Here’s the winning runs…..

Thibualt Daprella destroyed his front wheel is his race run leading to a DNF and bringing the race for the overall well within reach of Loris Vergier, but the winner of the Men’s field was Reece Wilson with a return to form and taking his first World Cup win.

The Women’s race was not as tight and Vali Höll put down a decent run to take the top step after Miriam Nicole crashed in her race run. This again means that the Women’s overall is not yet decided and means Miriam will be chasing the win in a couple of days time.

Wet weather is expected for the second race and the track is not one that handles rain well. It will be super gnarly in the wet and could be anyone’s race, the rocky track will be super slippery and the wet weather specialists should shine here. Stay tuned for race 2 and the decider to the 2021 UCI World Cup Downhill season.
