Round 3 of the Borderline Enduro Series went down on the weekend at Boomerang Farm Bike Park in some outstanding conditions. After a few weeks of rain it wasn’t certain to go ahead until the weather cleared up, the preceding days were epic and the trail conditions could not have been better. We take a look at the action at what was another awesome race by White Lightning Events….
A total of 106 riders strapped on a race plate and hit the dirt at round 3 of the Borderline Enduro Series at Boomerang Farm Bike Park on the weekend in some of the best conditions seen at the park for some time. The trademark dust that normally flies up from the tires on the trails at Boomerang Farm was missing and some hero dirt was had by all.
The course consisted of an establishment of blockbuster trails that are well known and provided an awesome mix of tech, flow and bike park madness. Stages were Rodney’s (DH1), Green Machine, Ricco’s (DH3), Mini Mega and the long and lung busting Enduropedia. A decent mix of trails and plenty of features to test all the riders, there was no shortage of air time and every inch of suspension travel was used on some of the trails. Mini Mega provided a healthy dose of bike park fun and was easily the stand out trail if you wanted to get a little sendy.
The business end of the day saw Ryan Gilchrist from Coffs Harbour take out the win in Elite Men over Sam Butler and Lachie Stevens. Tom Montgomery won the Expert Men’s category, Adam Aitken took the top step in the Masters 1/2 Men whilst Jemma Burtonwood won the Masters 1/2 Women’s category. Masters 3/4 saw Steven Butler takes the win in the Mens, Rowena Stockton won the Womens, whilst Pete Smith took the top step in the over 50s Men’s category. The E-bike category saw Michael Hayhoe take the win over Jesse Chirizzi and Greg Nicholson.
The Juniors again had a solid showing in all classes and some super fast times were seen on course. The U19 was won by Bayley Douglas, U17 Men by Nick Maxwell whilst the U17 Women’s category was won by Sacha Mills. Dane Folpp took the win in the U15 Mens, Charlotte Guy won the U15 Women, Rocco Stockton took the top step in the U13 Men, whilst Ella Van Haren won the day in the U13 Women’s category. Overall an epic effort from the full junior field.
Another awesome race out at Boomerang Farm Bike Park and another amazing event from the team at White Lightning Events. The last round of the Borderline Enduro Series heads to Woolgoolga in NSW and the Coffs coast. It may well be a reason to plan a road trip and get amongst it South of the border.
