For the second time this month we get to announce entries open for a race at Mt Joyce! Mt Joyce has been out of the race scene for nearly three years now and November looks set to bring two enduro races to the well known gravity location. Round 3 of the Scenic Rim Enduro Series by On The Edge Events heads to the iconic SEQ mountain biking location, it is also now the MTBA State Championships and we have all the details you need to get between the tape.
Round 3: Mt Joyce, 1 November – State Enduro Championships
Mt Joyce Mountain Bike Park is located at Wyralong Dam approximately 90 minutes from Brisbane and is home to a rocky, natural trail network. Home to many a race in the past the trails have no shortage of rock, dust and natural features. It is certain to provide an epic location for round 3 of the Scenic Rim Enduro Series and the 2020 MTBA State Championships.
The race format of the Scenic Rim Series round 3 has changed now it is the MTBA State Enduro Championships. The race will have six stages and use a traditional Enduro format, timed race stages that are predominantly downhill with untimed liason stages, meaning all riders must ride to the start of each stage before commencing the timed special stage. All riders will have 5 hours to complete the race.
Stage 1: Black Rock
Stage 2: Bovine Groove
Stage 4: Big Bertha into Worm Juice
Stage 3: Tunnel Vision
Stage 5: Sergeants
Stage 6: Scorpion DH
It looks set to be another great round of racing at Mt Joyce on 1 November, with six stages including three black diamond stages and no shortage of elevation. The weather is always warm in November at Joyce but it certainly seems like a good enough reason to drag you bike up the hill and pin it back down again. The longer stages will test the fitness of the riders and the wall ride will make sure the photographers have plenty of epic shots.
