With COVID-19 arriving in an unscheduled manner this year, it was hard to imagine that there would be another day between the tape in 2020. This year has taken a positive turn in Queensland and the team at Outlook Riders Alliance and White Lightning Events brought us a stellar first round of the Queensland Enduro Series. If this is the official start to a modified season, then it’s set to be a cracker!

The weekend’s racing started late on Saturday after some wet weather on Friday leading to a need to dry out the trails ahead of racing. Once the racing started it certainly kicked off, with a total of over 250 riders strapping on a race plate for the first round of the Queensland Enduro Series. Round one delivered some of the most feature-bound trails at Boomerang Farm with no shortage of jumps, drops and chutes to keep the riders on their toes and the spectators entertained. Some big names made it out to the race including former world cup legend Chris Kovarik, still super fast in the elite category.
The business end of the day saw Bryce Sterling take out the top step of the elite men’s category over Josh Vejvoda and Harry Reibelt. Lisa Mathison dominated the Elite Women’s category over Elle De Nooyer and Catherine O’Neill. Expert Men’s and Womens were taken out by Tom Montgomery and Imogen Loft respectively; with the Masters 1/2 won by David Hanson and Ashley Watling. The Junior field was racked with a new generation of riders with some awesome skills on show and a blockbuster pace. Full results are available below.

Race photos can be purchased from Sam Bianchetto and Eduardo Knoch, two resident photographers of Boomerang Farm Bike Park. We are told they will be ready Tuesday, so please refrain from contacting them at least until then (they are working their butts off to get the shots ready).
It was a different weekend racing in a different world, with COVID-19 decimating so much in the world it’s great to see a bunch of people strapping a race plate on and riding bikes. All and all in was a stellar event with a massive junior showing, a total of 122 junior riders shredding the trails of Boomerang Farm for the weekend. Outlook Riders Alliance, Boomerang Farm and White Lightning Events opened the belated season in an epic fashion. Round two is set to hit the trails of Jubilee Park in Toowoomba and it will be another great race weekend if everything goes to plan we look forward to seeing you out there and stay safe!
