The first round of the South East Queensland Downhill series kicked off on the weekend at Canungra, home of Straight to Hell Inc and what a weekend it was. There was no shortage of sending on both practice day and race day and the 40ft creek gap took some scalps as riders hit the feature at pace for the blockbuster crowd. With nearly 100 riders racing on race day, the pace was being set at an incredible level with riders like Harry Donald, Ben Forbes and Caitlin Dore all leading the charge and getting the send on for race day.

The crowd was at an all-time level with hecklers making sure that all riders got a healthy dose of encouragement and shutters were snapping open and closed on the many cameras on the hill. There was even a drum set near the 40ft gap and the symbols were raging as riders hit the send button time and time again. Some riders hitting over fifty feet on the gap with absolutely no shortage of style and a healthy dose of crowd encouragement.

Round 1 of the 2019 SEQDH race season could not have gone off in a bigger way. A cracking event to kick off the season and a stellar crowd to cheer the riders on, the right recipe for a big event that set the bar for the rest of the season. The next round of the race season will be held at Boomerang Farm Bike Park and is set to be a great event at a great location.
