After a year without club level downhill in Queensland, D’aguilar Range cycling club will be bringing back club DH with the Hennessey Cup. Three rounds of DH fun in a relaxed and chilled environment, designed to get everyone out and between the tape no matter how serious you are.
Hennessey Hill Downhill track or Beeries as it is more commonly known amongst the gravity crowd, is located on Beerburrum – Woodford Rd in Beerburrum. Just 1.5km in length and dropping 120m in elevation, Beeries is sure to get the heart pumping and add a hint of flow. Hennessey Hill has two lines down the hill and both are different with one being more rocky than the other but neither having too much gnar factor, allowing most riders the chance to race without risking too much.
This year’s Hennessey Cup will consist of three rounds and is brought to us by the crew at DRCC. The first round is on February 17, the second round is proposed for March 17 and the final round is scheduled for May 12 at this stage. Race day will see the ‘handicap’ method with all racers completing their run before being placed into categories, something most sandbaggers may be disappointed about! There will be loads of fun on the day and it looks to be a welcome addition to the 2019 race schedule for all riders, particularly those new to racing.
