Queensland’s New Enduro Series: Scenic Rim Enduro

As the season edges closer and the race calendar appears to get fuller, we look to our race schedule and start jotting in the races we are going to blaze for the year. For many of us in Queensland that includes the Queensland Enduro Series (Formally SEQ Enduro), but a new series has hit the press and its inaugural year might deliver some gravity-fed goodness….

The Scenic Rim Enduro Series looks set to be another race series to add to the schedule, with four races planned for the year in and around the Scenic Rim, it Queensland’s South. Brought to you by ‘On The Edge Events’, the four round endure series will consist of four timed stages with untimed Liaison stages with the combination of the downhill stages giving the rider their combined time for the day, fastest time wins.

Thus far only two of the locations have been set with the first being at Kooralbyn Ramada Resort, a mountain biking trail network that is predominantly known for its cross-country trails. The race is set for 10 March and includes and open category, e-bike category and age based categories; full face helmets are compulsory. We are hoping that a bit more gravity is set for the race, but whatever occurs it is sure to be a pedally race that will blast your legs and leave you spent. Race entries are open and you can register HERE.

Round 2 of the series is set at a destination all local gravity riders know well, Mt Joyce. The race is set for 28 July and should be a blockbuster racing event that will hopefully have some cooler weather at that time of year for a location known for being hotter than the sun in summer. Mt Joyce is an outstanding location with gravity-fed downhill trails, technical all-mountain trails and loose, dusty conditions. Again the organisers will be sticking to a four stage format and we look forward to checking out what stages are set for this race. Registrations are not yet open but we will keep you posted as details come in.

No shortage of features at Mt Joyce

Gravity Enduro has taken off in a big way in Australia and Queensland is no different with a new series adding some spice to the race calendar. We are interested to see how the series goes in its inaugural year and the team at Brakes Wide Open will be there racing and keeping you posted, see you on the trails…..
